Witness the original "land diving" – the spiritual birth of bungee jumping. Every Saturday from April to June, on the rugged island of Pentecost, men and boys leap from towering wooden towers with only hand-cut jungle vines tied to their ankles. This ancient harvest ritual, known as Nagol , has been performed for centuries to ensure a good yam harvest and prove courage. Now you can fly in for the day from Port Vila. Tour Summary Season: Saturdays only, April – June Depart: Early morning from Port Vila Return: Approximately 4:00 PM to Port Vila Duration: 8 hours Early morning: Hotel pick‑up in Port Vila and transfer to the domestic airport Scenic flight: Short flight to Lonoro Airport on Pentecost Island Overland transfer: Drive to the land diving village Nagol ceremony: Take your place among local spectators as the tower fills with jumpers. Watch the youngest boys (sometimes as young as 5–6) take their first small leaps, then see the adult men dive from the highest platforms – some over 20–30 metres high – their shoulders grazing the earth as the vines stretch and snap back. Tropical lunch: Enjoy a delicious local lunch prepared by the village Afternoon: More diving (weather and tradition permitting) followed by time to meet the jumpers and take photos Late afternoon: Transfer back to Lonoro Airport for your return flight to Port Vila, then hotel drop‑off around 4:00 PM Package Inclusions ✓ Hotel pick‑up & drop‑off in Port Vila ✓ Return airfares: Port Vila ↔ Lonoro Airport (Pentecost) ✓ Return ground transfers on Pentecost to the land diving village ✓ Entry to the Nagol land diving ceremony ✓ Tropical lunch at the village Important Notes The land diving ritual follows traditional custom.
